National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

 The NDIS provides funding to cover various types of supports and services based on participants' plan goals. This can include funding for assistive technology, personal care, therapies, and more. 

 Funding is available for assistive technology devices and equipment such as wheelchairs, communication aids, hearing aids, and home modifications to improve accessibility. 

 NDIS funds various therapeutic supports including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and psychology services to help participants achieve their goals. 

 For participants requiring accommodation support, the NDIS may fund supported accommodation options including group homes, shared living arrangements, or supported independent living. 

 NDIS provides funding for transport assistance to help participants access community activities, appointments, and employment opportunities. 

Support coordination in the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) helps people with disabilities to navigate and implement their NDIS plan. Support coordinators also help with setting up the plan, problem-solving any issues that arise, and working with service providers to ensure that everything is running smoothly. Essentially, it’s about helping participants make the most of their NDIS funding and achieve their goals.

Under the NDIS:

1. SIL (Supported Independent Living): Provides 24/7 support with daily tasks like personal care and household chores, typically in shared accommodation.
2. STA (Short-Term Accommodation): Offers temporary accommodation and support for short stays, such as respite or trial living arrangements.

Both options help participants live independently with the right level of support.
